MEET ANGELA

Alameda County Board of Education Trustee ANGELA NORMAND is an award-winning classroom Teacher of the Year, Marine Corps veteran, and Governing Board Member of the California Teachers Association, where she advocates for educational equity and safe, excellent teaching and learning environments for public school students and educators statewide.

Angela continues to live by the Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage & Commitment, saying “We are taught when the uniform comes off, there is no higher calling than to go back into our communities and make them better.”

As a Special Education Teacher and County Board Trustee,  Angela has been driven by her passion for the most vulnerable students in our public schools: students who have been expelled, have special needs, are in the court system, or who may be young parents.  Her activism transcends educational issues to include human rights, women’s rights, and LGBTQ+ advocacy.

A graduate of California State University - East Bay (Hayward), Angela has been honored for her local and statewide leadership on multiple occasions.
